Ebby wakes up and begins to set up her store, like any other day. But as she opens up to the hall that her family has called home for generations, she finds for the first time that it is completely dark. Confused, she steps outside and lights her lantern, only to find that none of the other stores are open. She turns and finds that the wall to her left is covered in a viscous fluid, and she understands that she must leave. She quickly gathers her possessions from her home, then turns and heads off to find a new place to live.
